CMSGs (Community Managed Saving Groups) are groups of people who have come together to save money so they might find financial security in larger numbers, without relying on third parties such as banks. CMSG is a proven positive financial and social measure. OCODE offers training in how to conduct CMSGs, forums where CMSG related issues can be discussed transparently, and supervision to combat misconduct.
Bonga (meaning “let’s talk” in Swahili) is a 10 month circle project where 13-19 year old adolecence who for whatever reason have fallen off formal education, can get a second chance to establish themselves in society. In Bonga they learn to believe in themselves, gaining confidence in both their abilities and themselves. Life skills, literacy, vocational skills, English language, technology, and talking about values and morals, are some of the courses Bonga offers. At the end of their enrolment they are offered start-up kits and follow-up, so they might establish themselves economically and socially.
There is an attitude that women are not fit to play football. At OCODE we know that women can do anything, and well. We believe that including women in an activity such as football will have a ripple effect into other areas where women are not included. Therefore, we spread awareness about female participation in sports, and support girls in our program who wish to make a career out of football.
