Monica Reyna Mgona, 19, always dreamed of becoming a hairdresser and one day opening her own salon. This aspiration pushed her to pursue a hair dressing course through Amazon Collage in Dar es Salaam, under Bonga project where she was able to pursue her vocational skills which will lighting up her dream.
In partnership with Stromme Foundation, OCODE is implementing Bonga project which benefits youth who did not make it to secondary schools, those who drop out of school due to early pregnancy and marriage, and other difficult life circumstances in becoming productive members to their societies.
“After OCODE introduced Bonga to our community I took that opportunity and hoping that my dreams will soon be met but I didn’t know how until now that I can see changes on my thinking, socializing and analyzing issues I am positively courage to stand and fight for life” Say’s Monica.
“I am so gladly that I have learned hair dressing the thing I love the most. I have chosen this course because in our community most ladies like beatification and this doesn’t want much capital only if I have the skills and the customer I can perform my work anywhere I believe soon I will open my salon in my community and I will become a role model for other girls by proving to the community that everything is possible it’s the matter of time.
